The use of performance enhancing drugs in sport is not a new phenomena, indeed as far back as 776 AD. the ancient Greeks were known to experiment with potions, opium, wine and sheep's testicles to give themselves an advantage while competing in the ancient Olympic games.
Roman gladiators apparently doped their horses with a honey and alcohol mix, thought to make the horses run faster. The gladiators themselves ingested hallucinogens and stimulants such as strychnine to enhance their performances in the arena.
In more modern times, cyclists and lacrosse players in the early 1900s took a mixture of wine, mixed with the coca leaf, the plant from which cocaine is derived from. Indeed back then it was known as 'cyclists' wine'.
In all these days gone past; it was considered acceptable, and even necessary for competition, to enhance performance through various elixirs and drugs. Nowadays of course, it is frowned upon in all competition. This is mainly due to the adverse health risks that an athlete can suffer from, due to exerting themselves whilst under the influence of, very powerful drugs.
This has been borne out by the premature deaths of many athletes, in a varying field of sporting disciplines.
Well that's all very well and good for the athletes; however what about us Betfair traders? Is there such a thing as a performance enhancing drug? If so, are they as dangerous as the ones that exist for athletes who want to cheat their fellow competitors out of medals?
Modafinil History Of A Wonder Drug
The drug Modafinil is a pharmaceutical substance that belongs to the family of nootropic drugs. Otherwise known as smart drugs, or cognitive enhancers, these are drugs, supplements, or other substances that improve cognitive function, particularly functions, such as memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.
These supplements became popular after the runaway success of the 2011 film 'Limitless', in which a struggling writer discovers a drug called NZT-48, which allows him to unlock his full potential. I won't spoil the film for you if you haven't seen it; as it is thoroughly entertaining and well worth the watch.
After the film the amount of Google searches for "drugs like NZT" or "Is there a drug like the one in Limitless" went sky high. Of course Limitless was just a film, and as far as I'm aware, there are no drugs out there, that will transform you from the class dunce to an Einstein-like genius. (If you find any, let me know!).
Originally Modafinil was meant to be a drug to help people with narcolepsy; a condition where the sufferer can fall asleep without warning, at a moment's notice. However it was discovered, quite by accident, that in some cases,. when taken by healthy individuals, to increase concentration and motivation.
Most interesting of all, Modafinil can make the most dull and boring of tasks, interesting and engaging, and it is these qualities that make it an excellent weapon in the Betfair trader's armoury.
Data Analysis & Modafinil A Marriage Made In Heaven
It is no secret that to become a great Betfair sports trader, you will need to develop a knack for analysing data, and then applying that to your sports trades. In fact you can go as far to say that, the better you are at analysing data without the distraction of emotion or personal bias, the better you will be at trading.
If you are a regular visitor to Betfair Trading Tips, then you will know that, that is what I attempt to teach. How to analyse data without cognitive biases getting in the way.
Of course there are no existing drugs that can can cancel out cognitive biases such as confirmation bias or cognitive dissonance, two potentially damaging biases when trading on Betfair. However when it comes to pure data crunching, Modafinil is the drug of choice.
I myself have used and do use Modafinil to crunch numbers to great success; indeed when I was formulating the Sports Trading Secrets Under 2.5 Goals whereby I had to trawl through an entire season's worth of goal scoring data for the four professional divisions in the English football league. I used Modafinil. in fact, I would go as far to say, it would have been impossible without it.
The intense joy that you get from data crunching on Modafinil is such that you will be ringing up your friends and asking them if they need you to do their tax returns or some equally boring task!
So Is Modafinil Safe?
In a word, yes. In 2015 published in the journal, European Neuropsychopharmacology, researchers from the prestigious American and English universities, Harvard and Oxford, analysed the data from 24 previous studies on Modafinil. They concluded that the drug produced favourable cognitive effects. Specifically in the areas of improved decision making, problem solving and possibly even make people think more creatively.
They also found that the nootropic increased something called fluid intelligence, thus earning Modafinil the title of smart drug.
Whilst the researchers admitted there was not enough data to come to any concrete conclusions about the long-term effects, they concluded that Modafinil was safe in the short-term and produced positive results in the mind's of users.
Getting Ahead & Staying There
Modafinil is used today in the UK and America by around one in twenty people, in England it is used mainly by university students who want to focus on their studies and exams. Whilst in America it is often used by people in the workplace looking to gain an advantage over their fellow colleagues.
As Betfair Trader it is best to use it when attempting to analyse large amounts of data, when attempting to spot trends that can lead to you making money. Or even when attempting to analyse an upcoming event, as found by the researchers, Modafinil can help to make those intuitive leaps that we often reserve for the minds of geniuses.
Will it turn you into a genius? No. Will it make you a better trader? Almost definitely.
Best Way To Use Modafinil
The particular brand that I use; comes in 200mg tablets, and as a new user, I would suggest that you take half of one of these pills. If you're worried about accuracy, you can get a pill splitter from your local pharmacy.
A half pill (100mg) will last anywhere from 6 to 8 hours, depending on your individual body weight, and metabolism. Though as I mentioned before, you will find the drug useful for applications beyond Betfair trading, so if you have something that requires intense concentration, then you'll highly benefit from trying Modafinil.
Where And How To Buy Modafinil
I have been using Modup.net for around three years now, and I find their product to be superior in quality than some of the other Modafinil sites. They deliver when they say the will, and as a bonus if you pay using the digital currency Bitcoin, you get a whopping 33% discount, allowing you to get their express delivery service within budget.
They do deliver to most countries; and they suggest that you contact them if you live in one of the few countries they do not, or cannot deliver to. Their standard delivery times are quite long, however as I said, activating that 33% discount will allow you to get their 7 day delivery without any extra cost, as the total cost is still about the same or less, depending on how much you purchase.
I understand that using pharmaceutical substances in this way is not everybody's cup of tea; however if you are the sort of person that wants any sort of edge over the competition you face on Betfair, then Modafinil is definitely the way to go.
Just remember, that whilst it can increase concentration, whilst helping you to make cognitive leaps in judgement that you may not have made; it will not take all the emotion out of trading. For that, you need a strong mind, and a course of Betfair Trading Tips Tutorials!
As ever; good luck, and happy trading.
